Former Catillacs guitarist Richie Bean and drummer Susan "Crash" Costa are now flying a new flag and living a new adventure. Teaming up with the multi-talented Joe Wright on guitars and mandolin and Monte Allen on the Fender bass they have formed the Americana-rock band Lonesome Highway.
Bean and Costa share the vocal spotlight, often singing in tight harmony, with Joe also being a featured vocalist on select numbers. They do several originals ranging from folk-rock ballads to trippy psychedelic garage rock. Also covering songs by the likes of Lucinda Williams, Ryan Adams, Warren Zevon, The Jayhawks and Drive-By Truckers, with the odd Elvis or Glen Campbell thrown in, they are a dynamic and entertaining band.
Hailing from different parts of the United States, the members of Lonesome Highway bring a mixture of cultural and musical backgrounds to the table, which blend together in an interesting way. Richie and Joe represent the west, hailing respectively from Reno and Marin County, while Costa, from Fall River Massachusetts brings the east coast element, and Monte, who once worked in Little Richard's road band is the southernmost, coming from Louisiana.
